All civilisation depends on two things: self-restraint and hope for the future. That’s why it can survive some wars. But if they go, it goes.

    Like with individuals, communities which lack self-reglation cannot learn from their mistakes, they cannot gain insight.
    Hope depends on a common vision for all, which Anglo-Saxon capitalism is incapable of delivering.

    I’m feeling better; also, when I wrote the last one I didn’t feel civilisation could survive. I’m sorry if the blog’s been gloomy, but this illness has really been getting me down.
