A test of your age

I was sitting here idly listening to “a 1973 Little Feat bootleg”:http://www.archive.org/details/lf1973-07-19.flacf from the Internet Archive and when they got to “Willin,”:http://www.archive.org/download/lf1973-07-19.flacf/feat730719i_06_Willin_vbr.mp3 Lowell George introduced it with the words “This one goes out to one of my favourite groups, Slade”. If that made you smile, you’re too old. If it didn’t, you might as well be dead.

Later, LG explains that the only club he ever goes to is the Whiskey-a-Gogo, and “all the English groups play there”. So perhaps “Slade”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slade did attempt the American market. The mind reels.

(The wikipedia article claims that they were the originals for Spinal Tap. Lick my love pump, baby!)

Well, I was a bit surprised of Lowell mentioning Slade as one of his favourite groups. So I did a bit research On wapedia.mobi/en/Quiet_Riot I’ve found this: “… Slade, whose influence on Quiet Riot dates back to the early 1970s, when Quiet Riot founder and vocalist Kevin DuBrow photographed Slade during their first Los Angeles appearances at the Whisky a Go Go”. Maybe Kevin knows, if Lowell was there 😉
