    Where we’ve been going wrong all these years is in giving Tim Berners-Lee all those prizes, awards, honours and money. We should have beaten him over the head with a brick when first his evil scheme saw the light of wotsit.

    The hyperlink is a bigger threat to national productivity than John Barleycorn ever was. Do I care that Robert Lambe (bap. 1711, d. 1795) asked his future wife to carry a tea caddy on Berwick Pier so he could identify her, but failed himself to turn up? No. Should I be writing about developments in low-density parity-check codes (*)? Yes. What have I just been doing?
