Now that we have had the Microsoft judgement confirmed, this is the only way that software will ever get built if it is to compete with MS: a rich man decides to give it away. Fascinating that the softwre industry should have reached the state of fifteenth century Italy, so that an artist like Andy Hertzfeld needs a patron like Mitch Kapor to do his stuff.
