It seems to me at least possible that there is a certain reluctance to vote for black peopple. This is understood to be shameful, which is why everyone tells pollsters they will vote Obama. But in a secret ballot, their fingers vote for Hillary. I hope I&#8217;m wrong. But it is certainly true that the pollsters in this country have to compensate deliberately for the fact that people are ashamed to say they are voting Conservative<sup class=\"footnote\"><a href=\"#fn1\">1<\/a><\/sup> and we will know by the end of the year whether I am right about the <span class=\"caps\">USA.<\/span> After all, she can&#8217;t cry in every primary, so if Obama consistently does worse than the polls would suggest, it&#8217;s up to the optimists to come up with a better theory.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"footnote\" id=\"fn1\"><sup>1<\/sup> And so they should be.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why is everyone so convinced that it was Hillary&#8217;s tears which swung the vote in New Hampshire?
