But Hume had the taste to write in English; and everything I painfully learn nowadays seems to me a series of footnote to him, The most recent discovery was his <a href=\"http:\/\/etext.library.adelaide.edu.au\/h\/hume\/david\/h92pm\/chapter8.html\">rules for conduct<\/a> on the Internet:<\/p>\n\n<blockquote><p> Among well-bred people, a mutual deference is affected; contempt of others disguised; authority concealed; attention given to each in his turn; and an easy stream of conversation maintained, without vehemence, without interruption, without eagerness for victory, and without any airs of superiority.
