Here is something like it. They are chosen because they all changed the world and all are admirable in some way or other. Complete bastards are excluded, which knocks out William the conqueror:<\/p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Alfred the Great<\/li>\n<li>Thomas Cranmer<\/li>\n<li><del>Thomas More<\/del> Shakespeare (I thought I had done this)<\/li>\n<li><del>Edward Gibbon<\/del> James Clerk Maxwell<\/li>\n<li>Newton<\/li>\n<li>Hume<\/li>\n<li>William Wilberforce<\/li>\n<li>Darwin<\/li>\n<li><del>Elizabeth Fry<\/del> Horatio Nelson<\/li>\n<li>Churchill<\/li>\n<li>Wellington<\/li>\n<li>Milton<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"caps\">UPDATE<\/span>: (changes on the following grounds: Without Nelson, Wilberforce would have been unable to carry through the abolition.
